$60 Per Foot For Rinnai Vent Pipe?

Posted on | January 10, 2010 | 4 Comments

My plumber says the vent pipe for a Rinnai tankless water heater costs $60 per foot, plus the cost of the labor to install it. It’s concentric vent pipe, with the exhaust gas in an inside pipe, and the intake air in the area between that inside pipe and the outside pipe.
Does the $60 per foot sound right? It seems kind of high to me.

yes it is right because you need to use stainless steel pipe for your tankless water heater. that stuff is really expensive

I have been putting in water heaters for many years, and I don’t see how you can compete with a plain old standard water heater with a standing pilot. Mine has run for 14 years, and never given one problem. I will guarantee you this… If you have a tankless heater installed, you will have more than one problem in a 14 year period. Where is the savings there? These are not simple units, and not simple to repair. How green is that?

some company’s make their own pipe and insist it will void the warranty if you don’t use it
