There are several differnt types of tank less water hearters out on the market now days. Some are referred to as boilers, but they still are tanksless. There is a type you can just replace your hot water heater with, with only minor adjustments, that work very well. it only heats the water when you need it saving from your water hearted keeping a tank load of water warm all day for nothing. there are types that you install under the counter at every location for hot water, doing away with your water heater all together. these come in different wattages and sizes and they to hook up with minor adjustments. Either one works well, the tankless heater that replaces your existing water heater is the less amount of money if you have more than a bathroom and a kitchen and you will recoop your money back sooner.

I installed a tankless unit in my last house. It was WONDERFUL. Never ran out of hot water, used 1/2 as much propane.
    I highly recommend it.

I installed one at my mothers house. She uses bottled propane. Her water heater was at the end of it’s life and needed to be replaced anyways. it’s been 3 months and she hasn’t had to have her tank filled yet. prior to the install it had to be filled every 45 days. the propane is used for her stove, hot water, and clothes dryer.
so I would say yes, a huge differance in the monthly bill. It cost about 300 more to go tankless and the return on that investment should only take 6 months.

We just installed one for a five unit apartment building and it’s been a big $ saver and we no longer run out of hot water ever. The old water heater was a 40 gallon tank and this is only about 2×3 feet and 10″ deep. I think they also last longer than a tank heater.

From what I’ve seen on TV, they pay for themselves in a year or two max. You can check out the expected costs and compare them to your current bills to see for yourself.

We installed an electric on demand unit in our condo. Saves money on the electric, but we can only use one hot water activity at a time which we have adjusted to, no more multi-tasking for me.
    Life is good.

Yes, and yes! Not only that, but we moved our old water heater to the attic, above the two baths (it used to be down the hall), and I now have instant hot water…for as long as I want it! They’ve only been installed for a month or so, but I had a lower water bill, and the gas was lower also.
