I Am Looking To Get Tankless Water Heater. I Need One For My Entire House, And In Particular For Big Tub.?

Any recommendations? The Watts RA-28 from costco (link below) seems very reasonable, but I cant tell if it will heat my whole house. Also it seems to be electric not gas. Does that matter?

I’m not so sure how well that will work at only 30 amps. The last one I installed was 80 amps requiring 2-40 watt circuit breakers and it was just under $400.00 at the plumbing supply house. It produced very hot water. It also had 2 replaceable elements if one happened to burn out.
I have bought heaters in the past that when they went out I had to replace the entire heater. Be sure to check that.
** Never mind that’s a 120 watt heater. I misread the specs. It should work great. Requires 4-30 watt breaker so keep in mind you’ll need additional wiring so consider that expense in your budget.

I just got back from a tour of the U.K. Everywhere I went they had tankless water heaters. I never once had a hot shower. I can’t stand them.

My dad’s friends got one and they love it. The water is heated on an as needed basis, not kept hot constantly as in traditional heaters.
My son-in-law is a plumber and tells us we don’t want one, but never gives us reasons why. He just says, You don’t want one.
I’d check with a plumber or a building supply place such as Lowe’s or Home Depot about their recommendations. Plus, I think gas is more efficient, but that’s my personal opinion.

There are several brands, look on web…
Not as familiar with Costco product..
Would get different brand, cost not as important as quality.
Installation very important on these.
Will not work well if installed too high.
Be sure to follow install instructions.

On homedepot.com there are a bunch of them. They even list that they are for the whole home, so you won’t have to worry about not having enough for your big tub.

I checked out the site and all the info it shows is for 120F. I bought a gas tankless that went to 120F and was very disappointed as this temperature is really not that hot at all. I was able to get a controller that let me go on up to 130F or 140F and it’s much better now. You should really consider this when purchasing.

Check out the Rinnai Tankless water heater. They are the leader in the tankless water heater industry.http://www.rinnai.us/Products/water_heat…
It is a very good product and you should be very happy with it. BTW gas is superior to electric when it comes to heating things.

Tankless water heaters need to be sized by the total gpm (gallons per minute) required by all of the fixtures in your house. The electric one you picked will require more electrical supply wiring than a standard electric water heater. If you get this one hire an electrician to install the wiring.

hello i have a whole house unit that i got 2 yrs ago at Home Depot. i paid 800$.it’s a Bosch Aquastar 125FX tankless for LP gas.you must find a plummer to install it,that’s important.it works fine, you have a slite delay before you get hot water, you get used to that.there is a setting for how hot you want the water.it has saved $ on my LP gas that’s for sure,it’s paying for it’s self.mine said it would handle 3 appliances at once,so i can wash clothes and shower or what ever at same time.i don’t use the hot water tap when i’m just turning it on for a brief rinse, because it kicks it on and i turn it off before i get the hot water,so i don’t want it igniting on and off so much.i have got used to that too.all in all i think it was a benefit to my home, with rising gas prices i know my wallet likes it.it’ not that well known here in my area(Central WI.) so it was hard to find the installer, you might want to check that out first.good luck.

i have one of these and have installed 12 so far and everybody love it. 8 of those houses have two showers going at the same time on a regular basis!
