Installing A Tankless On-demand Water Heater?

I am having several tankless water heaters installed in one of my developments. Has anyone had problems with the A.O. Smith on-demand water heaters model 505? How about with the venting of the unit? The company installing is having problems with the venting of it in certain units.

The venting is covered by UL and your local building code. If you were here in California you would need to go up through the roof or at least any adjacent structure with all horizontal sections sloped and the total run (horizontal) to rise (vertical) not to exceeding 50%. This particular unit only alows a 41′ flue with no elbows. The lenght get much shorter if you have elbows. See the installation guide lines pages 22 and 23 below. The unit also has the added problem of condensation that needs to be removed from the venting system. If you are installing these in an existing structure I can tell you from experience it is very hard to achieve all of these requirements in multi story buildings and can be difficult in single story buildings. its all about the Location of these units they may have to be placed somewhere else…. and run the water lines to that new location………..location location location

For difficult areas to vent, there are also electric powered models.
Still more economical to run than storage types.
