    Yes, it the duct size meet the minimum of both.

    Check with your local Building Code office. In the 3 States I have lived in, it is not allowed. The problem is that when one or the other is on, the flue gas could back feed into the other duct and enter the home.

    Proper draft without ‘feedback’ is the issue.
    If the flues are properly designed, it can de done, but it
    must be done right.

    mine are and it is a fairly new furnace…

    edit: if raw gas filled your basement it could explode too…where is the gas going to come from

    NO ! This is forbidden by building code. They require seperate chimneys. If raw gas were to escape into the chimney while a fire is burning, an explosion can result.
