The controls should be right on the heater like the one in your house.

hi there, you should have a water heater switch on the wall somewhere in your motorhome, you need the switch to turn it on, if you turn it on and it does not fire up after a few minutes you manually have to lite the pilot light on the outside of your unit. should be a cover in the back, kinda where your black, grey and freshwater tanks are located. I had a Jayco eagle 32ft slideout and our water heater unit sometimes didnt kick in, so i had to manually light the pilot light. Hope this helps you out. good luck.
