Tankless Water Heater Where To Vent To?

i have a water heater installed in my basement and is vented into my chimney and want to put the tankless there and vent it to the same place can i vent to the chimney or do i have to vent somewhere else i all ready hade the hole there just need to remove the old water heater

    If the chimney is not been used to vent anything else it should be fine. providing the chimney is in good condition. If it is a brick chimney you should be using a liner that matches the size of the water heater vent.for proper venting

    Not into the fire place.you have got to go exterior to the shortest distance.

    If the tankless heater is gravity vented you may use the chimney, if it is forced vented you cannot. You gan tell which is which by looking at it. If there is a small blower on the vent it is forced. Also since you say it is new you must have a manual, all your venting reqirements will be in there.
