I went to a builders show for work and talked to a lot of people about them. I have not heard anything bad about them. I would definitely get one if I had the money.

Initial cost is higher than a standard water heater. If you have hard or high mineral content in your water, it will give you problems. If you install one, make sure you have access to a Plumber that services them. Not all Plumbers will work on them. Make sure the one you choose will supply the amount of hot water you need.

this is a year late, but tankless water heaters have pros and cons
pros much more space on average you will save about 70-85 dollars a year on your utility bill
cons
they are much more exspensive costing 800-1150 on average compared to the tanks which cost 300-500 on average, they do not heat up the water instantly it usually takes a few minutes which may be an annoyance if all your trying to do is got hot water to mop or something…
