What water heater capacity is needed for one shower/bathroom?

I have a downstairs shower/bathroom that requires its own electric waterheater. It is a guest bedroom and ideally i’d like it to be able to provide enough hot water for two consecutive 5-minute showers. What is the minimum number of gallons I would need? Would a 30 gallon electric water heater work?

Yes. A forty gallon will give you even more backup.

30 gallon would be sufficient.

30 gallon will cover what you need. I would also wrap it with the insulation blanket….and it you have the money…put a time on it. that way it won’t run all the time…just the hours in the day or night you need more hot water…it actually saves more than it cost in the long run.

You might want to consider what is called a point of use water heater. They are energy efficient and made for small spaces. It has a 2.5 gallon tank. They heat the water as you go and only cost from$150 to $250.

I live in an apartment with one bath,we have 45 gallon water heater and that’s just right if we take showers right after each other…you could go smaller
