   As far as I can find on the web, a Laser water heater is just a brand name. The link below shows a tankless water heater that has the name Laser on it. Reading the specs shows it still has heating elements. Quote: “The heating elements are shielded incoloy elements, used for reliability and long life.” There are also Laser space heaters using kerosene. See the wiki link for more information there.
   Tankless heaters are more efficient because the water isn’t sitting in a tank with the heat slowly dissipating. The water is only heated when it’s needed.
   As far as electric or gas, the gas heater will always have some heat wasted up the flue. Modern ones minimize this waste but some is still there. However, it might still be cheaper to heat with gas rather than electricity. You need to compare costs of both in your area to determine which would cost least.

   I agree with wires about Laser being a brand. As someone who knows something about lasers, there would be no advantage to heating water using an actual laser. Inexpensive lasers are not very powerful and not very efficient. You would be much better off taking the electricity used to power the laser and, instead, send it into an electric filament to heat the water. Electric filaments are actually very efficient (where else is the energy going to go, if not into the water…?)
   So, I would avoid any company that wants to use lasers to heat water. Actually, I would avoid any company that calls itself Laser just to sound high tech, even though they produce keroseen and electric heaters. But that’s just me.
