Out of gas? Valve shut off? Improper starting procedure. Hydro may be off, check breaker or fuse.

this is a problem you should not attempt to fix you self you need a propane dealler to fix this for safety reason. Iam a gas repairman and this could cause a fire if not fix properly.

It sounds as though your thermocouple has gone bad. Depending on the length, it will cost $5-$10, and you can install it yourself. Good luck!

As the man above said, its your thermocouple. Thats the probe that gets heated by the pilot, connected to the thermostat, that makes the pilot stay on by itself. Its needs to be unscrewed from the thermostat, pulled out & replaced. Not too hard if you`re handy.

You can buy a tune up kit at most hardware stores.

Just in case everyone has skipped the obvious assuming you know…. To light the pilot light requires you hold the pilot light button down for quite some time while the pilot light (after being lit) heats the thermocouple to a temp that turns the gas on. A very light click occurs when this temp is reached.
