Will My 200 Amp Service Handle An Electric Tankless Water Heater That Requires 3 50amp Breakers?

I live in the country and only have hydro, so my old water heater is electric as is my heat pump and back-up furnace as well as the clothes dryer.

it all depends on how much other electricity is being used add up the total of all your breakers in your panel if you try to run more than service panel is rated for it wont be able to keep up with potential difference needed and will trip out either main breaker starve power (brown out) or possibly overload and catch fire (a worse case scenario) the installer will be able to determine if you are able to handle the load.
Make sure all local codes are followed

Yes! back in the 50′s it was rare to see a 200 amp service, even 100 amp was scarce, we did our best to sell and install 100 ampers, some were 40-60 amp push pulls. Both handled stoves and dryers well, and some electric resistance heating. Consider that not every load will be called upon at the same time. Some homes were wired for arc-welders in the garages also. Dad had a 30 amp 120 volt service for years, and only had outlets, lighting and water-heater electric, later on added a table saw from sears, a shopsmith, that we still have.
